SUCCESS! And on to Week #2!

Oh my goodness, I can hardly believe how well the week went.  Not perfect, but I accomplished enough that I'm feeling good about the progress and ready to move on to this week with no guilt.

Quick Review:
1.  Balance the June, 2010 bank statements. DONE!
2. Fling 7 things from my house each and every day.  DONE!
3. Start decluttering and cleaning in dd9's room.
DONE! (almost...still need to finish about half the clothes in her closet)
4. Scrapbook one layout. DONE!
5. Make a good list of projects that need to be completed at work and set some deadlines.
MOVING THIS ON TO THIS WEEK'S LIST!

Goals - Week of July 25
1. Balance the July, 2010 bank statements.

2. Continue to fling 7 things from my house each and every day.

3. Start decluttering and cleaning in ds5's room.

4. Scrapbook one layout.

5. Make a good list of projects that need to be completed at work and set some deadlines. Okay, this is a carryover, but I need to make it a priority this week.

Mid-Week Check In

1. Balance the June, 2010 bank statements. DONE! WooHoo!!

2. Fling 7 things from my house each and every day. So far, so good. I've started a yard sale box and already called ARC for a pickup next Monday.

3. Start decluttering and cleaning in dd9's room. Spent a little time in there today. We got the floor mostly cleared and cleaned off her desk and all the desk drawers. She did a great job separating items for the trash, the donation pile and the yard sale box. We also pitched lots of trash. Even though we still need to tackle the closet, bookshelf, dresser and under the bed it's already looking better in there!!!

4. Scrapbook one layout. Not yet....but the week is not over yet. :)

5. Make a good list of projects that need to be completed at work and set some deadlines.  Need to work on this....so far this week I've only had time to deal with the urgent instead of plan for the upcoming. Maybe tomorrow???

Still haven't found it

Yes...I haven't blogged in a year, and I'm STILL looking for that elusive life balance that will help me get it ALL done.

I have just returned from a week of vacation, and am energized more than ever to get my house, my work, my finances, and my soul back in order. So I'm starting here with my goals for this week.

Just this week I will:

1. Balance the June, 2010 bank statements. Don't laugh...I really am that far behind. And all of 2010 needs to be complete before we can file our tax return which is on extension.

2. Fling 7 things from my house each and every day. Whether it goes to the trash or gets donated, I'm motivated to rediscover the space I know is lurking amongst all the clutter.

3. Start decluttering and cleaning in dd9's room. I would love for both kids to be able to start the school year that is quickly approaching with neat and decluttered rooms. I think it will help them think better, study better, and sleep better if their surroundings are more "peaceful".

4. Scrapbook one layout. This is the part where I find balance for me! Not enough time spent doing things that I love.

5. Make a good list of projects that need to be completed at work and set some deadlines. It's always hard coming back from vacation. I can hardly remember what was on the burner when I left. So I think a good list of all upcoming projects is exactly where I need to start.

I'll check back soon with a progress report!!!

Back on the Flylady Bandwagon

Oh my! Why can't I find a system that actually works for me? Between work and running kids around and laundry and kitchen duty and grocery shopping, I never seem to get to the real cleaning until it's at the point I can't stand it any longer....which is exactly where I am today!

I decided I need to get back with the plan that works the best for me...and that Flylady.net

I've actually been practicing parts of the Flylady system for 8 years now, but I keep tweaking as my life changes. As I tweak, something falls off the list then I feel like I'm in CHAOS again.

So today I'm back. And I'm working on Kelly's Missions so that I'll feel that at least SOMETHING in this house gets cleaned. Time to go scrub off some countertops!

June is Flying By!

We're halfway through the month of June! Which means in a couple more weeks,we'll already be halfway through with 2010!!!

Where does the time go? If you're like me, before you turn around another holiday/celebration is on the horizon and I'm rushing to buy that special gift or get things ready for another party. Just to give you a heads up:

  • Father's Day is THIS Sunday (June 20). Are your gifts bought? Mailed if you need them to be?
  • Independence Day! And for many of us, this will be a long weekend. If you're traveling, have you made all your arrangements? If you're entertaining, do you have your menus and shopping lists ready?
  • School's Out For Summer! - I'm already starting to wonder if the kiddo is loosing math and reading skills. What do you do in the summer to make sure your kids stay sharp and don't fall into that 3-month regression?

UGH! Definitely not up to par today

I've caught a nasty little summer cold. I always hate having a sore throat, runny nose, and annoying cough, but somehow it just never seems right when it's 90 degrees outside! I'm plugging through my day regardless. The work projects still need to be kept moving down the pipeline. Luckily, I've been able to spend my day on the more mundane side of my job. Data entry, organizing files, responding to emails. Nothing that required much research or creative brainstorming. I also need to take my daughter to her practice tonight when what I'd rather do is go home and curl up on the sofa. Other than that, I'm giving myself a night off. We'll have an easy dinner, laundry is caught up, and I'll be pushing the kids for bed so I can sleep this thing away!

What are your tricks for compensating when you're sick but life must go on?

Saturday Musings

How are you spending your Saturday? We had fun celebrating a friend's birthday this morning at one of those inflatable bouncy party places. This afternoon, while my kids have been lounging ---too hot to go outside, plus I think they are tired --- and I've been catching up on some bills and paperwork at my desk.

What is your normal Saturday plan? Do you catch up on housework? Get out of the house to spend some quality family time? I seem to always take Saturday as it comes, then catch up on housework, laundry and errands Sunday afternoon....just in time for it to start all over again!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend!
